Our Construction programme provides young people with the opportunity to learn practical trade skills within a structured, real-world environment. Delivered at our dedicated site in Buckhaven, this hands-on training pathway allows participants to step outside of a traditional classroom setting and engage in learning that is active, purposeful and skills-based.
Through guided projects and supervised practical tasks, learners are introduced to core construction techniques, safe working practices and the correct use of professional tools and materials. From basic joinery and woodworking to wider construction skills, the programme is designed to build both competence and confidence. Every task encourages attention to detail, teamwork and pride in producing high-quality work.

Beyond technical ability, our Construction training supports the development of essential life skills such as communication, time management and problem-solving. With experienced staff providing consistent guidance and support, young people are given the foundation they need to progress into further training, apprenticeships or employment within the construction industry, while gaining a stronger sense of achievement and direction.

CONSTRUCTION – Level 1
Construction Level 1 is a 10-week vocational programme designed for 3rd Year to Senior pupils, delivered one day per week within a practical training environment. The course introduces learners to core construction skills including joinery, plastering, painting and tiling, alongside safe use of hand and power tools. Through structured projects, team building and SQA enrolment, pupils work towards a Personal Development Award while developing practical ability, confidence and essential life skills such as communication, teamwork, respect and time management.

CONSTRUCTION – Level 2
Construction Level 2 is a 10-week, community-based programme designed for pupils who have successfully completed Stage 1 and are ready to apply their skills in a real-life work environment. Working alongside the CTH team on live community projects, learners gain practical experience in areas such as plumbing, electrics and wallpapering while developing strong work ethic, responsibility and professional standards. With one-to-one support and a focus on leadership, career planning and personal development, pupils build confidence and practical ability while working towards a Well-being qualification at a level they can achieve.

CONSTRUCTION – Level 3
Construction Level 3 is a 10-week advanced, community-based programme designed for 4th years and school leavers who have successfully completed Stages 1 and 2. Working alongside the Community Trade Hub team in their chosen trade, learners plan and deliver real community projects, including pricing materials and organising job implementation. This stage focuses on employability, leadership and professional standards, with access to advanced qualifications and certification such as CSCS, while building a Work Experience portfolio to support progression into employment, apprenticeships or further education.
